We spent ten wonderful, relaxing days in Argentina with our two children and several other members of Sussex polo. we spent our days at 'el casal' - the family estancia of memo. the setting is absolutely idyllic - good polo, good ponies (so good we ended up buying two!), good weather and good company. Whilst there we competed in two tournaments with a neighbouring estancia and it was great bringing home some prizes. We were looked after by memo's family for whom nothing was too much trouble, they made us feel so welcome.
One drawback with  Argentina is that everything is cheap, which makes shopping an absolute must! four of us spent a day in Buenos Aires shopping - and boy did we shop! our poor taxi driver, who stayed with us all day, deserved a medal for patiently waiting (on one occasion for 3 hours!) outside shops for us. We were certainly loaded up with goodies by the time we returned to our hotel.
The other drawback was leaving behind a very special little puppy - christened 'chukka' -  the children found one day. Sallie-Anne & I decided to go on a rescue mission to save her. She spent a day at the vets and two nights smuggled into our hotel room, after which she was well on the mend. We then took her to 'el casal' (where she is so happy!) and Sallie-Anne twisted memos' arm into letting her live there.
At the end of our holiday we felt sad to be going home. We had such a lovely time with a brilliant bunch of people - I certainly shed a few tears saying goodbye to everyone.
We can't wait to go back!"

The polo ranch "El Casal" which means "Lovebirds" is just on the outskirts of the town at the end of a long driveway past open fields full of horses and cattle and many exotic birds.
