About Us

The Sussex Polo Club is situated high up on the Surrey/Sussex borders in the picturesque village of Rowfant just 35 miles from central London and 8 miles from Gatwick. Located a 10 minute drive from Junction 10 of the M23, it is conveniently situated within easy reach of neighbouring Cowdray Park, Knepp Castle, Hickstead and Hurtwood Park polo clubs.

The club was formed in 2002 by Duane and Sallie Anne Lent after a family holiday to a polo ranch in Argentina inspired them to try and recreate the more informal and relaxed atmosphere they found there combined with the competitive farm polo that Argentina is so famous for. They wanted to encourage and build a new style of polo community that is more inclusive in a sport that has historically been perceived as exclusive to the large majority. Thus the club’s motto: ‘More new blood, less blue blood!’

In 2017 the club changed direction to focus on polo livery and informal club chukkas and young horse training. The weekends are spent playing morning matches at Cowdray Park with horse transport provided for members.

Sussex Polo Club has one full sized sanded pitch and a stick and ball ground plus over 70 acres of grazing.  In the winter there is an all-weather arena and horse walker to keep  you and your horses fit.  With experienced grooms and young horse trainers Sussex is the ideal place to keep your horses on livery.
